Jakarta, August 23, 2024 – The Foundation of Inspiration for Indonesia Development or known as Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) in cooperation with Insight Investments Management carried out an empowerment program for economically and socially vulnerable groups through the Perfume Entrepreneur Training Program which was held on August 20 to 21, 2024, which was attended by 17 participants from different backgrounds including: correctional inmates, laid off workers, housewives and unemployed to casual workers.
The training activity was accompanied by a trainer, namely Susgiharti, who has been an entrepreneur in the perfume industry since 2000, the trainer has a perfume shop called Aneka Parfum which currently has 7 branches in the Jakarta, Bekasi, and Tangerang areas.
The event was opened by representatives of the management of YIIM, in this case represented by Mrs. Riccana Rosita as the Treasurer of the Management. “this training activity is a form of concern from YIIM and INSIGHT to improve the skills of participants in perfume entrepreneurship, she also conveyed that today’s participants are selected people who have gone through strict selection, she hopes for the seriousness of the participants in this training, so that after the training they can be independent, “ – Mrs. Riccana Rosita.
On the first day of activities, participants began by filling out a pre-test to determine their knowledge of perfume. Furthermore, participants were given a basic introduction to perfume, such as types of perfume, types of aromas, etc.
The delivery of this material aims to improve participants’ understanding of the basics related to perfume. After an introduction to the basics of perfume, participants were invited to identify the aromas in several perfume essences to increase their olfactory sensitivity to perfume, this is the basis when participants want to run a perfume business. Furthermore, participants mixed perfume with various perfume essences, participants seemed enthusiastic in participating in the perfume blending practice.
On the second day, participants practiced mixing perfume by mixing several aroma essences to get a unique and new aroma. In addition, there was a discussion session between the trainer and participants regarding running a perfume business based on the trainer’s experience in running a perfume business.
The event was closed with the distribution of certificates for participants, as well as a speech by the chairman of YIIM Management, Chrisbiantoro in his speech emphasizing the importance of participants daring to start a perfume business, either mixing their own or being re-sellers and interning at the trainer’s place to get further guidance.
This event is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDGs 1 on combating poverty and SDGs 8 on decent work and economic growth.
By organized this Perfume Entrepreneurship Training, YIIM expect to be able to help the community, especially those included in vulnerable groups, to be empowered so that they can actively participate in the economic sector, in addition to helping participants to be able to develop knowledge and skills to start their business.
