Jakarta, October 7, 2024 – The Foundation of Inspiration for Indonesia Development or known as Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) in cooperation with Insight Investments Management carried out a community empowerment program through the AC (Air Conditioner) Cleaning and Service Training Program which was held for 3 days which started on October 2 to 4, 2024. This program aim is to provide knowledge and opportunities for the community to be able to improve their economic conditions through AC cleaning and service entrepreneurship. This training was attended by 10 participants from different backgrounds, such as victims of Termination of Employment (PHK), Online Motorcycle Taxis, and those who are unemployed. The trainer for this training was Isnaini Hasan, he is an alumnus of the YIIM AC Washing Training in the year of 2020 who is currently an AC cleaning and service technician under the name Ar-Rayyaan Teknik. In addition, he is also a senior employee at a company engaged in the field of vehicle cooling.

On the first day of activities, participants were asked to fill out a pre-test to see the participants’ initial knowledge regarding AC. Next, participants were presented with basic material as an introduction to the AC working system, the delivery of this material aims to improve participants how AC works to produce cold temperatures in a room. In addition, participants were also given material related to AC components and the calculation formula for AC specifications that are in accordance with the room to be cooled and calculating the electrical flow in the AC. This is one of the important things when becoming an AC technician and one of the initial analyses in checking damage to the AC. In the last session, participants were given material on the work ethics of AC technicians.

On the second day, participants were given introductory material on refrigerants or freons used in AC and the use of AC service tools such as Ampere Clamps, after which participants practiced installing AC pipes and practicing filling AC refrigerants with the R410A type. Filling refrigerant is one of the skills that must be mastered by AC technicians. Furthermore, participants practiced removing and installing ACs from the cover to the components inside, while being explained if there were certain problems or obstacles, what components should be checked. After practicing removing and installing the AC, participants practiced cutting and flaring the AC pipe, this will greatly determine whether the AC installation is successful or not because if the cutting and flaring of the pipe fails, the AC will not be optimal in cooling the room. 

On the third day, participants were practice on cleaning the AC. Before practicing, participants are shown how to wash the AC first and how to use the AC cleaning tool by the trainer. After participants understand how to clean the AC, participants were using SOP that has been demonstrated by the trainer. This event is in line with the Sustainable Development

Goals (SDGs), especially SDGs 1 on combating poverty and SDGs 8 on decent work and economic growth By holding this AC Washing and Service Training, YIIM hopes to help the community, especially those included in vulnerable groups, to be empowered so that they can actively participate in the economic sector. In addition, it can also help participants to develop knowledge and skills to start their businesses.
