Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun, also known as The Foundation of Inspiration for Indonesia Development (YIIM), is funded by Insight Investments Management Company (PT Insight Investments) and takes an active role in social, humanitarian, and religious support. One of them is offering assistance with road access through the construction of a bridge at Taji Village, Jabung District, Malang Regency, East Java Province. This bridge is essential for the villagers’ farming lives, such as distributing harvests and serving as the major path connecting residents and their plantation area between Taji Village and Pandangsari Lor Village. After two years of operation, the benefits to Taji Village residents, particularly coffee farmers, continue to be felt.

Taji Village is located on the slopes of Mount Bromo, and the bulk of the locals work as farmers. There are two types of villagers: those who reside in Taji Village and those who settle in Pandangsari Lor Village, which is about a kilometer away and has steep, rocky, and muddy terrain bordered by a five-meter-wide river.

For decades, farmers have utilized a semi-permanent bamboo bridge to traverse. This is quite tough since, in addition to the fact that the bridge is not particularly heavy, during the rainy season, the current frequently sweeps the bamboo bridge away, forcing residents to rebuild it. Another challenge they confront is crop failure, which results in large losses because the connecting access is closed off, preventing farmers from doing anything in the event of a flood.

Since the Inspiration Bridge’s construction in 2023, it has continued to provide benefits to farmers. One of the most significant benefits is that there are no more crop failures due to cut off access. Another benefit is that this bridge can be crossed by motorcycles, allowing them to transport more and faster crops, which automatically increases their income.

This program aligns with Sustainable Development Goals 1 (eradicating poverty), 9 (infrastructure), 10 (cutting inequality), and 17 (partnering to achieve goals).
